The extra letter (negative 6/36) comes with the UK limited edition. The bound-in Undex is available in the Canadian edition. The transparent undex is one of only 100 distributed (randomly?) in the Uk first edition. Check out the Guide to editions

Thank you. I feel left out now. Behind the times. If only I'd heard about the book earlier. I want one of each. The yawning chasm of consumer need is opening, I need to plug it soon....

new information on the negatives from steven:

Steven Hall wrote:

Folks might have noticed that the Aquarium Fragment is identified as Negative 1/36 at the end of the document. For each chapter in the book there is, or will be, an un-chapter, a negative. If folks look carefully at the novel they should be able to figure out why these un-chapters called negatives.

Not all the negatives are as long as the Aquarium Fragment - some are only a page, some are only a couple of lines. Some are much longer than the Aquarium Fragment. About a quarter of them are out there so far. (It’s an ongoing project set to run for a while yet) Not all of the negatives are online, some are, but they're hiding. Anyone with the Raw Shark UK special edition will have Negative 6/36 and anyone with a Canadian edition will have Negative 36/36 (and also a good idea of what some of the other negatives are).

The negatives are not deleted scenes, they are very much a part of the novel but they are all splintered from it in some way.

what would be really cool would be a negative edition of TRST with that cover and comprising of all the un-chapters or negatives.

I'm actually hoping for that too.

All these different editions, and different content being reason enough to uy them, can get tough, financially, if you're a collector.

Undex (Incomplete UK)

Here's a complete (I think) list of differences between the Canadian Undex, and the UK one (linked to above). In alphabetical order.

A

Entries for the following are missing from the UK Undex:

Aames, Mr
Aames, Mrs

B

Entry for the following is listed in the UK Undex, but not in the Canadian:

Burr Burr, 34, 385, 359-397, 410, 414, 419, 420

G

The B in the "Gavin the Cat" entry now is listed as "B2" (as are all other occurrences of B)

'Grayson, Danielle (Greek Translation Only)' now includes a B2

The entry for 'Greek islands' now includes -5,-3, and N4.533

H

Entry for 'Hall, Steven' now includes a B2

N

Entry for 'Naxos' now reads just (See Greek Islands) instead of page numbers 44, 97, 112, 113, 115, 117, 129, 194, 401, 411, 412, 414

Q

Entry for 'Quantum Machinegun' now includes B2

T

The entry for 'The Encyclopaedia of Unusual Fish' now includes N26

Entry for 'Thera' now includes the text '(See also Greek Islands)'

Entry for 'Ticking Remora' now includes page 328

U

Entry for 'Use me' is now 'USE ME'

W

Entry for 'Ward, Mycroft' Now includes a black box
